TASMAINA 2019 FIRST BIG TRIP IN THE GRAND DUKE

This was written by my daughter as we travelled.

2 weeks in Tassie constantly travelling, here's the itinerary we followed thanks to Dad spending the time planning out the trip, we just followed!

Day 1 spent on the spirit of tassie! Day trip over

Arrived late at Stanley cabin and tourist park.

Day 2 we spent the day in Stanley exploring "the nut" had a very inclined walk to the top, hard but rewarding while the others took the chair lift. After that we went into Smithton for a wonder around town and a beach walk before heading to to the vans.

Day 3 pack up and on the move first we visited Zeehan for lunch before arriving for the night in Strahan. We went on the Gorden River cruise and had dinner while on the boat while stopping off at little Islands along the way for a wonder through the rain forest.

Day 4 pack up and move again. Visiting Queenstown the lookout was stunning even though it was raining, followed by Nelson Falls and then "the wall" the most stunning wall of carved wood work I have ever seen before arriving at left of field caravan park the quirkiest little place I have seen. I would rate this park no.1 of our whole trip!

Day 5 still in left of field we had a relaxing day, visited the Nelson and horseshoe Falls then the Berry farm and brought the best jam I have tasted!

Day 6 on the road, We visited the salmon farm, fed the fish and ate some yummo crapes! Before arriving at Huon Valley Caravan park, 2nd best park of the trip, lots to do for the kids, animals in the park ect!

Day 7 while at Huon Valley we did the Tahune air walk while drizzling, was still some amazing views! After the air walk we visited the Hastings caves.

Day 8 left Huon Valley had some time to kill so we visited snug Falls before catching the ferry over to Bruny Island, our first stop was the oyster farm Get Shucked, followed by house of Whisky, Then Chocolate shop before setting up at Captain Cook holiday Park, id have to say this park wasn’t very impressive.

Day 9 we visited "the neck" again stunning views, followed by cheese and beer! the honey farm and a visit to the beach for a swim before heading out for dinner.

Day 10 an overnight stay at seven mile Beach, we visited the zoodoo safari zoo, we all had a ball here and the kids absolutely loved it!

Day 11 on the road early to Port Arthur visiting the historic park, enjoyed an informative boat ride and a visit back in history.

We had a quick stop in to visit the remarkable cave before arriving at Orford for the night.

Day 12 leaving Orford early we travelled to campbelltown for morning tea before arriving at the big 4 in Launceston. Quick set up once we got our site sorted after a little drama but on well, then went to Cataract Gorge. The most stunning place, my fave. Didn't have enough time here and would need a full day next time. We enjoyed the chair lift and ice cream and a swim in the pool but need to add the hiking in for next time.

Day 13. Up and out to check out James boags distillery, the car museum and visited Beaconsfield mine. Then off to Richardsons Harley Davidson, spend way to much money but coming home with lots of goodies. They have a resturant just next door called the iron horse which was just yummy!

Day 14. Left Launceston headed to King Solomon's cave the most amazing cave I have ever been in, simply incredible. Stopped in at Sheffield for some lunch and a wonder around the town looking at the shops and murals before stopping in at Devonport over night for pizza and an early morning.

Day 15... We are up super early to get back on the boat to start the track home!
